Operation warp speed under Trump’s administration is taking every possible step to maximize the likelihood there will be a safe, effective vaccine against COVID-19 available by the first of next year, administration officials said Tuesday. The leading members in the administration of the operation warp speed pledged that there will not be any sacrifices in the case of safety in the push to quickly develop, manufacture, and deliver a vaccine.

One of the lead officials said, “All of the professionals working on Operation Warp Speed see this as a solemn obligation to make sure these vaccines are safe and effective.” Operation warp speed is a program organized by Trump’s administration to pull together private pharmaceutical companies, government agencies, and the military to develop a vaccine for COVID-19.

It pleased politicians and they offered citizens, a hope to leave lockdowns, and investors are eager to return economic activities. But scientists opinioned that to develop a vaccine it could take a much longer time. But a survey reports found that only half of Americans would be willing to take the vaccine against Coronavirus.

But experts generally agree widespread vaccination will be needed to stop the spread. Dr. Peter Hotez, dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Texas said, “I hope it translates to a redoubled commitment for adequately testing the efficacy and safety of these vaccine candidates. Ensuring that the COVID-19 vaccine program will adhere to the highest standards of vaccine testing is the best means to defuse anti-vaccine misinformation, which is now pervasive.” 

The Time frame of Vaccine Preparation is Shortened

By overlapping many of the steps, the time frame of vaccine development is shortened. The operation warp speed administration also said that even though many steps are overlapped, the safety measures aren’t cut down. So there is no guarantee to finish the process in January. One of the leading administrators said,

“We are taking every possible step to maximize the probability of success and shorten the timeline to getting safe and effective vaccines and therapeutics for COVID-19.

The timelines are being modified, but the science is not.”  The experts, scientists, and all administrators were working 24/7 until getting the vaccine. Dr. Paul Offit, a vaccine expert at the University of Pennsylvania, said “the administration officials had said that they plan to rely on outside experts to determine whether a trial has proven a vaccine candidate’s safety and effectiveness.

There’s an election coming up. his administration has consistently put politics ahead of science. I wish that the vaccine development process will be guided solely by science. I think we’ve done enough.”

The administration has provided more than $10 million to the operation warp speed. The politicization of this operation and lack of transparency are reported several times and The White House did not answer any questions about the reports.
