Trump Refused To Wear A Mask In Front Of Cameras
Trump brought a navy blue mask stamped with the presidential seal to a Ford plant in Michigan on Thursday. But he refused to wear it in front of the cameras. Ford Executives encouraged the President to wear the mask, but he refused. He said, ”I didn’t want to give the press the pleasure of seeing it”.

Trump disobeyed the rules in place for others that are meant to guard against coronavirus. He visited the factory where Ford rules say that everyone must wear a mask and he was surrounded by company executives whose faces were covered.
Trump Shrugging off the rules
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended Americans to wear masks in public during this coronavirus pandemic. Trump shrugged off the rules and has come under scrutiny several times in the past for the same. “It’s up to him,” said Bill Ford, the company’s chairman, when asked why Trump wasn’t following his company’s guidelines. “He wore a mask during a private viewing of three Ford GTs from over the years,” the company said.
“The President later removed the mask for the remainder of the visit.” Trump visited Michigan to highlight the effort Ford has made in producing ventilators to face the pandemic. Michigan has the fourth-highest number of coronavirus deaths in the USA and thousands of the state’s residents were ordered to evacuate this week over dam failures that triggered record flooding.
“A never-ending lockdown would result in a public health calamity. To protect the health of our people, we must have a functioning economy. Americans who need and want to return to work should not be vilified. They should be supported” President remarked.
Just a day ahead of the visit, he tweeted that state’s attorney general was breaking the law by sending absentee voting applications to every person in the state, an extension of his efforts to cast doubt on an election feature that is poised to play a major role in pandemic-era democracy. He openly blew against Michigan’s Democratic Governor, Gretchen Whitmer for criticizing the federal government’s action during this pandemic crisis. Now he refused to wear the mask in public, despite recommendations and guidelines from the federal government itself to cover the faces while social distancing is difficult.
According to Ford’s reopening handbook that was shared with the White House, all visitors, at all times, in all locations should wear a mask.
Two White House staffs are recently tested for COVID positive, but Trump has not been found to have it yet. Any person who comes into close proximity with him is tested using an Abbott Labs rapid diagnostic product, even though the US Food and Drug Administration has cautioned those tests may produce high rates of false and negative results.
Attorney general of Michigan, Dana Nessel issued an open letter on Wednesday to President Donald Trump which says, “While my Department will not act to prevent you from touring Ford’s plant, I ask that while you are on tour you respect the great efforts of the men and women at Ford and across this State by wearing a facial covering. It is not just the policy of Ford, by virtue of the Governor’s Executive Orders. It is currently the law of this state”.
